About Puckerville
History of the Barn?
In past generations, the barn was a gathering place for men. However, those gatherings often centered around drinking, gambling, and worldly living. Everything changed when Rick gave his life to Christ and experienced the transforming power of being born again. With a renewed heart and purpose, he felt called to dedicate the barn to something far greater — creating a place where men could gather to pray, worship the Lord, study Scripture, and encourage one another in Christian brotherhood.
What began as a small gathering of faithful men on Thursday mornings steadily grew through God’s blessing and the hunger for authentic fellowship. Today, more than 30 men gather every Thursday morning to seek the Lord together.
In 2025, the men’s ministry from Parkview Christian Church had been meeting in homes, but the group eventually outgrew those settings. Rick was asked if he would consider opening the barn to host the Saturday men’s gathering as well. With great hospitality and a servant’s heart, he welcomed the opportunity.
Now, each Saturday, another 25 to 30 men gather at the barn for prayer, worship, Bible study, and fellowship.
Altogether, the barn now serves as a meeting place for around 60 Christian men every week - men united in faith, growing together in Christ, and building lasting bonds of brotherhood.
What was once a place associated with worldly pursuits has, by God’s grace, become a place devoted to prayer, worship, Scripture, and the transforming work of Jesus Christ.
What is Puckerville?
PLATE NO. 162 - GOODING’S GROVE. Parrish’s Store on the northwest corner of 143rd and Bell Road ca. 1908.
In 1832 Deacon James Gooding with his three sons - James, Jr., William, and Jasper - settled at Gooding's Grove and gave the locality its name. The place was also called "Puckerville" by many folks, a name allegedly derived from the antics of a young Methodist minister who used to line up the kids on Parrish's porch and teach them how to pucker up and whistle.

What We Believe
We believe in one God- Father , Son, and Holy Spirit - who is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. We believe the Bible is God breathed and our guide for faithful life.
We believe in Jesus Christ, Gods Son, who lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again. Through Him, we receive forgiveness and new life by grace through faith.
We believe the Holy Spirit is active today, drawing people to God, living within believers, and guiding us in truth and growth. We believe Jesus will return, and that all who trust in Him will experience eternal life.
